Orchard View boys and Ravenna girls bowling teams both posted dominating 15-1 records during the regular-season portion of the 2023-24 West Michigan Conference seasons.
After Monday’s WMC tournament at Northway Lanes, the Cardinals and Bulldogs laid claim as conference champs on their respective sides.
Ravenna’s girls won the WMC tournament as well as the regular season, so the Bulldogs are outright league champions. Orchard View’s boys finished atop the regular-season standings, and while Oakridge won the tournament title, OV’s runner-up finish in the tourney was enough to make the Cardinals overall champions.

“Wow, what a season for the boys, going 15-1 for the regular season. We had no idea we would be where we are,” Orchard View coach Bobby Larabee said. “There are some very good teams in the WMC. Oakridge is always a battle for us and we had a couple of close matches with them. Holton and Fremont have improved so much over the couple of years and I only see them getting better and stronger.
“I owe a lot of gratitude to Jeff Maus for helping the last couple of years. Not sure we would be where we are without him. And, if you don’t mind me saying, Ravenna’s girls team is fun to watch.”
In points totals including the regular season and tournament, Ravenna’s girls team finished with 18. Fremont and Oakridge were right behind with 15 points each, followed by Orchard View (11).
In Monday’s tourney on the girls side, Ravenna rolled 2755 to win going away. Oakridge was runner-up at 2586, followed by Fremont (2409) and Holton (2407).
“We had a couple of girls step up today when we needed it,” Ravenna girls coach Jeff Nutt said. “The girls struggled for the first three games. Emma (Herremans) and Kendra (Denhof) kept us in it when Taylor (Nutt) struggled. Then the team came together in the Bakers and we pulled away. Oakridge was right with us until that.”
In points totals including the regular season and tournament, Orchard View tallied 17 points, followed by Oakridge right behind at 16.5, then Fremont (13.5) and Whitehall (13.0).
On the boys side in Monday’s tournament, Oakridge rolled 3288, followed by Orchard View (3244), Whitehall (3102), and Fremont (3019).
