Mairyn Peterson – Reeths-Puffer Volleyball
Reeths-Puffer’s Mairyn Peterson turned in a dominant, all-around performance this week, leading her team with 15 kills, 2 blocks, and an incredible 11 aces. Her serving alone was game-breaking — a rare stat line that can singlehandedly change the course of a match. Beyond her serving, Peterson proved to be a powerful offensive finisher from the middle, contributing consistently on both ends of the court. Her ability to control momentum and spark scoring runs makes her the week’s most complete and impactful player.
Riley Kanaar – Fruitport Soccer
In one of the most dramatic matches of the season, Fruitport’s Riley Kanaar delivered the winning penalty kick to secure the district championship. The Trojans battled through regulation, overtime, and even two rounds of sudden death before Kanaar sealed the victory in thrilling fashion. His composure and confidence under immense pressure helped clinch the title in what was the longest and most intense game in the coverage area this year. Kanaar’s moment of poise defined the championship.
Jonah Henderson – Montague Football
Montague’s Jonah Henderson came through in the clutch, kicking the game-winning field goal to lift the Wildcats to a dramatic 24–22 victory. After a key interception set up the opportunity, Henderson stayed composed under pressure and delivered when it mattered most. His accuracy and calm execution sealed the win, helping Montague improve to 4–4 heading into Week 9. Henderson’s performance highlighted his reliability and poise in a high-stakes moment, securing a crucial victory for the Wildcats.
