Lakeshore Badgers vs. Kalamazoo United — Game Recap (Dec. 20, 2025)

The Lakeshore Badgers hosted Kalamazoo United on December 20 at West Shore Community Ice Arena, but found themselves in an early hole that proved too deep to climb out of. Kalamazoo jumped on its chances in the opening period, and the Badgers went to the intermission trailing 5–0.

Coming out for the second, Lakeshore responded with the kind of intensity you want to see. The Badgers raised their physical play, competed harder in puck battles, and generated several quality scoring looks, but couldn’t find a breakthrough. Kalamazoo added three more goals in the second period, and the game concluded after two periods with an 8–0 final.

Even in a tough result, there were positives in the response. Lakeshore killed the only power play of the game, staying disciplined and organized while down a skater. The Badgers also did a better job containing Kalamazoo’s top scorer, limiting #9 Xavier Asma to a goal and an assist.

In net, Joel Knobel handled the full game for Lakeshore, and the Badgers finished with 10 shots on goal. Kalamazoo recorded 7 shots.

Lakeshore will look to regroup in practice over the holiday break before returning to game action on the road January 2 and 3 in the Detroit area, facing Brother Rice Varsity B and New Boston United.
