Rivalry week lived up to the hype. Montague vs. Whitehall is always more than just a game, and this one had everything. High energy, big moments, and a dramatic finish as the Wildcats battled back to earn a 2–2 draw.
Whitehall came out hungry, looking for its first WMC win and played like it early.
The Vikings struck first at 32:10, then doubled their lead at 21:08 in the opening half behind goals from Izzy Causie and Reese Hesse, putting Montague on its heels and just 40 minutes away from a breakthrough conference victory.
But Montague responded. With 11:33 left in the first half, Emily Earnest found the back of the net to cut the deficit to 2–1, shifting momentum heading into halftime.
Halftime: Whitehall 2, Montague 1 The second half turned into a battle.
Montague pressed. Whitehall held firm. Both teams played with urgency, knowing how much this one meant.
Then came the moment. With just under 14 minutes remaining, Marguerite O’Connell delivered the equalizer, finishing off a clutch assist from Ava Crow to tie the match at 2–2, and spark a surge of energy from the Wildcats’ sideline.
From there, it was all intensity. Both teams pushed for a winner, trading chances and playing with emotion down the stretch, but neither side could break through.
Final: 2–2. In a rivalry like this, records don’t matter. Whitehall showed hunger. Montague showed resilience. And in the end, both teams walked away knowing they left everything on the field.
