Greater Muskegon Junior Golf Tour Gives Young Players a Summer Stage to Grow

Greater Muskegon Junior Golf Tour

The Greater Muskegon Junior Golf Tour is giving young golfers across West Michigan something every developing athlete needs.

A place to compete.

A place to learn.

A place to measure progress against players from other communities.

The summer tour brings together junior golfers from across the Greater Muskegon area and surrounding communities for weekly tournament opportunities at local courses. The purpose is simple but important: promote junior golf and provide meaningful playing opportunities for young golfers who may want to compete at the high school or college level.

That matters.

Golf is not a sport that develops only on the range. Young players need rounds that count. They need to learn how to handle a bad hole, recover from a missed putt, manage pressure, play with different competitors, and carry themselves with respect on the course.

The Greater Muskegon Junior Golf Tour provides that environment.

The 2026 schedule includes stops at several area courses, including Benona Shores Golf Course, Oceana Country Club, Grand View Golf Course, Old Channel Trail Golf Club, Lincoln Golf Club, Lincoln Hills Golf Club in Ludington, and White Lake Golf Club. Each stop gives players a chance to compete in a structured tournament setting while experiencing different course layouts, conditions, and challenges.

The tour includes divisions for boys and girls in grades 9 through 12, boys and girls in grades 6 through 8, and a coed division for golfers in fifth grade and under. That structure allows players of different ages and experience levels to participate in a way that fits their stage of development.

For older players, the tour can serve as valuable preparation for high school competition. For younger golfers, it creates an early introduction to tournament golf in a setting that is competitive but still centered on growth.

That balance is what makes junior golf valuable.

Young athletes learn quickly that golf does not reward excuses. It rewards patience, discipline, honesty, focus, and resilience. There is no teammate to blame. There is no clock to run out. Every shot requires ownership.

Those lessons extend well beyond the course.

The tour also strengthens the local golf community by connecting players, families, coaches, and courses throughout the region. Local junior athletes get the opportunity to compete close to home, while area courses play a direct role in growing the next generation of golfers.

The Greater Muskegon Junior Golf Tour is also accessible for families. Tournament fees are listed at $25 for 18-hole events and $20 for nine-hole events, with live scoring included. Families can register through the tour website, create an account, and sign up for individual tournaments throughout the season.

For local golf fans, the tour is also a chance to watch the next wave of area talent develop. Many of the names competing in these summer events are the same athletes who will represent their schools during the high school golf season.

Some will chase college golf opportunities.

Some will become lifelong players.

All of them will be better for the experience.

The Greater Muskegon Junior Golf Tour is more than a summer schedule. It is a developmental platform for young golfers, a showcase for local talent, and a reminder that some of the best sports lessons are learned one shot at a time.
