Local teams delivered a full slate of competitive action on the hardwood this week, highlighted by statement wins, clutch finishes, and balanced team efforts on both the boys and girls sides. North Muskegon held off a late Ludington rally in a marquee boys matchup, while Hart and Fremont each earned impressive victories at home. On the girls side, Whitehall survived a one-point road test, Shelby stayed unbeaten, and Fremont turned in a dominant, all-around performance. BOYS BASKETBALL

North Muskegon 63, Ludington 54

North Muskegon built an early lead and withstood a strong Ludington rally to earn the win. The Norsemen led 14–10 after one and 33–24 at halftime, capped by buzzer-beating threes by Adam Dugener at the end of both the first and second quarters. North Muskegon stretched the lead to 15 early in the third before Ludington clawed back to within one point (50–49) late in the fourth, but the Norsemen closed strong to secure the victory.

Hart 77, Orchard View 52

Hart defended its home floor on Parent Night, pulling away in the second quarter to earn a 77–52 win. Orchard View brought early energy and trailed just 19–12 after one, but Hart created separation in the second by outscoring the Cardinals 24–5 to take a 43–17 halftime lead. Hart credited Orchard View’s effort for pushing both teams to improve.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Whitehall 37, Oakridge 36

Whitehall battled through offensive struggles and free-throw woes to pull out a one-point conference win on the road. The Vikings went just 14-for-31 from the free throw line, but made the most of key moments late, including a clutch free throw with four seconds remaining to seal the victory.

Emma Decker turned in her best performance of the season, while Clare Westerlund made her presence felt on both ends of the floor. Whitehall also received valuable minutes from Kayden Johnson, Janie Fagan, Kate Beda, Reese Hesse and Ellie, helping the Vikings grind out the win.

Shelby 52, Holton 42

Shelby remained undefeated by withstanding a strong push from Holton, especially in the second half. The Tigers built a 27-17 halftime lead, then responded after Holton cut the deficit to one possession by capitalizing on second-chance points and defensive rebounds down the stretch.

Shelby’s balanced attack featured multiple double-digit scorers and dominant rebounding, helping the Tigers control the tempo late and close out the win.

Fremont jumped out to a 15-0 lead and never looked back, cruising to a dominant road win. The Packers led 21-7 after the first quarter and 45-12 at halftime, triggering a running clock early in the fourth quarter.

It was Fremont’s most balanced performance of the season, with all 12 players scoring, rebounding and recording a steal. The ball movement was exceptional, leading to 11 made three-pointers and one of the team’s best offensive nights of the year.

Ravenna used a suffocating defense and a balanced scoring effort to earn its 10th win of the season. The Bulldogs shut out Hesperia in the first quarter and steadily extended the lead, taking a 25-9 advantage into halftime and a 40-13 lead after three quarters.
