Buckle your chin straps for new video series on 2023 Reeths-Puffer football team

MUSKEGON — Although much work has been done to prepare for the upcoming high school football grind, the new chapter known as the 2023 season is upon us.

Practice officially kicks off on Monday, Aug. 7, and CatchMark SportsNet is ready to tackle a new video series telling the behind-the-scenes story of the 2023 Reeths-Puffer football team.

We’re introducing a three-part series titled, “Behind the Helmet: 2023 Reeths-Puffer Football.”

As the Rockets go to work, so will the CatchMark crew. We’ll be capturing footage of players and coaches, telling their stories, and showcasing their chemistry. We’ll be painting the picture of the culture that head coach Cody Kater and his staff are trying to build in Rocket City. We’ll be illustrating the melting-pot dynamic that exists in the Reeths-Puffer school community.

Are you ready for a high school version of HBO’s “Hard Knocks” series that’s been such a big hit? We’re ready to deliver that.

“The whole vibe, the whole idea, is to get people to take a look at what modern-day high school football looks like behind the scenes, but also a different lens on the Reeths-Puffer school district as a whole,” Kater said.

“Just trying to give perspective to West Michigan people where Reeths-Puffer is. I had a delivery for some Rogers equipment and the guy that was dropping it off said, ‘I’ve lived here in West Michigan my whole life and I’ve never even heard of this school. Beautiful stadium.”

Reeths-Puffer kicks off the season Thursday, Aug. 24, at Grand Haven. A road trip to Farmington awaits in Week 2, while the home opener comes in Week 4 against Holland. Of course, there are the measuring-stick games everybody is anticipating: Crosstown rivals Mona Shores and Muskegon in Weeks 3 and 5, respectively.
