Welcome to the CatchMark SportsNet: Player of the Week, where we celebrate the unsung heroes and rising stars who light up the local sports scene! Each week, we put the spotlight on three extraordinary athletes who not only rack up impressive stats but also inspire their teammates and elevate their game.

Cam Gunsell, Junior, Ludington Football

The Ludington Junior was absolutely on-fire against Montague this past week. He passed for 183, going 12-16 with a 75% completion rate. Gunsell was also a menace on the ground, rushing for 146 yards on 23 carries, averaging 6.35 yards/carry and three touchdowns.

Payton Babbitt, Junior, Orchard View Football

In Orchard View and Coach Aaron James’ first win of the season, Babbitt was all over the field. On the passing front he was 10-19, totaling 103 yards and three touchdowns. Rushing, he ran for 85 yards on 12 carries and a touchdown.

Blake Sayer, Senior, Hesperia Football

Hesperia’s senior QB was efficient against Shelby. He was 14-18 passing, completing 77.8%, totaling 218 yards and one touchdown run. Defensively he garnered 1 interception in a loss against the Shelby Tigers.
