Area competitive cheer teams delivered impressive performances across several recent invitationals and conference meets, showcasing depth, resilience, and high-level execution throughout the season.
Hart Claims First at Second WMC Meet
Hart Varsity Competitive Cheer continued its dominant conference run by taking 1st place at the second West Michigan Conference (WMC) meet of the season. Hart recorded its highest scores of the year in all three rounds, finishing with the top overall score of 656.84.
The Pirates outperformed a competitive field that included Ludington, MCC, Whitehall, Montague, North Muskegon, Fremont, Ravenna, Oakridge, and Orchard View.
Hart will compete this Saturday at Grand Rapids West Catholic alongside other conference teams before returning to action next Wednesday at Whitehall for the third WMC meet.
Hart Competes at Aquinas Cheer Invitational
Hart also competed at the Aquinas Cheer Invitational, where 17 varsity teams participated, including nine Division 3–4 schools. Hart finished fourth among Division 3–4 teams with a score of 616.84.
The Pirates started strong, scoring 194.4 points in round one to place third among their division. Despite a solid showing in rounds two (174.04) and three (248.4), 18 penalty points over the final two rounds impacted their overall placement. Without the penalties, Hart would have passed Newaygo and finished less than a point behind second-place Mason County Central.
Whitehall Places Fourth at Brighton’s Best Invitational
Whitehall Competitive Cheer faced a tough test at the Brighton’s Best Invitational, which featured 22 varsity teams, most of them Division 1 programs. Among the five Division 3–4 schools competing, Whitehall finished fourth, posting a total score of 621.14.
The Vikings remained consistent across all three rounds and delivered their strongest relative performance in round three, scoring 250.3 points, just 10 points shy of third-place Charlotte.
Shelby Wins Ludington Invitational
Shelby Competitive Cheer captured a championship victory at the Ludington Invitational, finishing with a winning score of 679.42, edging North Muskegon by nine points.
The Tigers delivered a clutch performance in the final round, scoring 270.3 points and outscoring the Norse by 11.1 points to secure first place. Shelby also led round two with a score of 196.92, narrowly topping North Muskegon by 0.06 points.
