North Muskegon’s girls soccer team is ranked No. 1 in the Michigan High School Soccer Coaches Association Division 4 poll for a third straight week.

Wednesday night, the Norse showed why.

On the strength of Emmy Creed’s hat trick, North Muskegon cruised past Whitehall, 6-1, in West Michigan Conference action at Fred Jacks Memorial Field.

Creed’s goals were her 10th, 11th, and 12th of the season. Alex Johnson, Emma Buchmiller, and Nat Lindell also tallied goals for North Muskegon, while Johnson, Creed, Buchmiller, and Kennedi Koekkoek notched assists.

Emma Lamiman and Kendall Hibbard split time in goal in the Norse victory.

North Muskegon (7-1-0 overall, 4-0-0 WMC) controlled the game from the start, scoring in the first minute of play.

The Norse will be busy next week, visiting Oakridge on Monday, hosting Ravenna on Thursday, and welcoming Division 4 third-ranked Royal Oak Shrine on Saturday.

Whitehall (2-3-1, 1-2-1) scored its goal on a penalty kick by Kate Beda near the end of the contest. The Vikings have a couple big matches coming up, hosting Fremont (another team unbeaten in the WMC) tonight and seeing Montague come to town on Monday.
