‘Hot Seat:’ Manistee girls track sprinters dash through questions to get to know them

Chippewas’ Audrey Huizinga and Lacey Zimmerman enjoy their sit-down interview with CatchMark SportsNet’s Tate Stine.

MANISTEE – CatchMark SportsNet’s Tate Stine recently interviewed two speedy track stars in Lacey Zimmerman and Audrey Huizinga from Manistee.

While Huizinga is a sophomore and Zimmerman a senior, they dominate their respective events in the same way.

The Manistee girls track and field team competed in an MHSAA Division 3 regional meet May 20 at Manton. Both Huizinga and Zimmerman placed, with Huizinga taking first and recording a new school record in the 400-meter dash (1:00.20) and Lacey Zimmerman placing second in the 100-meter dash (12.82).

Huizinga and Zimmerman also ran important legs on the successful 4×100 relay and 4×200 relay teams at the regional meet. Their 4×100 squad finished second (52.11) behind a very talented Hart squad. The 4×200 relay managed to win the event with a time of 1:48.57.

During their interview with Stine, Huizinga and Zimmerman were asked about their love for track, what they like to do in their free time, and other questions to get to know them better.
