‘Hot Seat:’ Mighty thrower Kellen Kimes of Hart powers through questions

CatchMark’s Tate Stine tosses rapid-fire questions at state and national champion.

HART — CatchMark SportsNet’s Tate Stine recently sat down with Hart’s Kellen Kimes, a nationally ranked thrower, for the eighth and final episode of Season 2 of the Hot Seat.

Stine tosses a series of fast-paced questions at Kimes to get to know him outside of the landing zone. Kimes handled all questions with the same confidence which benefits him during competition.

Kimes, a recent graduate of Hart High School, is very accomplished in the throws. A signee of Division I Liberty University, Kimes is a New Balance Indoor national champion in the weight throw. He’s defending state champ for MHSAA Division 3 in discus and finished state runner-up in shot put last season.

Kimes is the top seed in both the discus and shot put at this Saturday’s MHSAA Division 3 state meet at Kent City High School.

Kimes has a burning desire to compete at the highest level and continue to improve, but he’s as laid-back a young man as you’ll find.
