‘Ice Breaker:’ Third-year starters for Holton girls basketball showcase their veteran skills

Abbie Fowler and Ryann Robins are three-sport standouts for the Red Devils.

HOLTON – Earlier this week, CatchMark SportsNet’s Tate Stine met with Holton girls basketball players Ryann Robins and Abbie Fowler for a new episode of the “Ice Breaker,” a segment that highlights West Michigan Conference student-athletes.

During the interview, Robins and Fowler were posed a series of rapid-fire questions. The pair of three-year varsity starters both gave great answers to questions about who they are off the court, who inspires them and what their goals for the team this season.

Both Robins and Fowler goals were focused on team success in the win column. While the specifics of their goals weren’t exact, they were focused on the here and now: Helping lead the Red Devils past visiting Newaygo and avenging a previous loss to the Lions. They did just that, too, as Holton defeated Newaygo on Tuesday night, 43-29.

Holton picked up another win Thursday night, defeating visiting rival Holton, 75-15, to bring the Red Devils’ record this season to 8-8 overall and 4-5 in the WMC Rivers Division.

The pair of three-sport standouts, who also excel in softball and volleyball, look to continue to help Holton achieve a second-straight winning season in basketball.
