Viewers of CatchMark SportsNet’s “In the Fairway” can take only so much hacking from our crew as we visit and showcase local golf courses.
Thankfully, Chris Carter and Erik Sanford came to the rescue for Episode 3 of the summer series, which made a stop to Lincoln Golf Club, 4907 Whitehall Rd., in Muskegon.
Carter is Director of Golf at Lincoln, while Sanford is a longtime member there as well as Muskegon Area Director for First Tee West Michigan. Borrowing a term that CatchMark Technologies managing partner Brent Raeth has used, those guys are “sticks.”
Carter, who is also golf coach at Reeths-Puffer High School, owns the course record at Lincoln. Sanford has won several tournaments on the local golf scene. They joined CatchMark’s Scott DeCamp and Conner Raeth recently for a few holes at Lincoln, as the foursome played Nos. 15, 16 and 18.
Lincoln Golf Club, which is located across the road from Michigan’s Adventure amusement park, has been in operation since 1927. With a reputation for being well-manicured, the golf course has become a bit more challenging over the years as trees and vegetation have grown.
The CatchMark video crew captures stunning visuals of Lincoln Golf Club from varying angles along with commentary from Carter and Sanford and customary, playful banter and iffy golf swings by DeCamp.
