Lexi Daggett, Kendall Osborne power Whitehall to girls basketball win over Manistee

Vikings avenge early-season loss to Mariners.

The one-two punch of Lexi Daggett and Kendall Osborne powered Whitehall’s girls basketball team to a 51-47 victory over visiting Manistee Thursday night in West Michigan Conference Lakes Division play.

Daggett, a junior, scored a game-high 20 points and pulled down seven rebounds. Osborne, a senior, posted her fifth double-double of the season with 13 points, 13 rebounds, and three blocks.

The Vikings (5-9, 3-4 WMC Lakes) avenged a 63-47 loss to the Mariners (6-7, 5-3) from Dec. 12 at Manistee.

Whitehall junior Lianne Fagan and team defense helped limit Jayna Edmondson to one field goal and 12 total points. Edmondson went 9-for-12 from the free-throw line. Fagan added five points, five rebounds, and three assists.

Whitehall freshman Clare Westerlund contributed eight points and three rebounds. Senior Lucy Zamojcin had six rebounds and four steals to go with three points for the Vikings, while senior Allie VanAntwerp added two points and two steals.

For Manistee, Alayna Edmondson led her team with 15 points. Avamae Fett scored 11 points for the Mariners, while Libby McCarthy notched four blocks. Jayna Edmondson grabbed seven rebounds to go with her dozen points.
