MUSKEGON — In a season of growth for Whitehall’s and Orchard View’s girls basketball teams, tandems on each squad were in the spotlight during a Saturday matinee make-up game in the Cardinals’ gym.

Whitehall’s Kendall Osborne and Lexi Daggett combined for 41 points in their team’s 58-24 victory over Orchard View, which is coached by the father-son duo of Jeff Sterken and Trevor Sterken.

Osborne scored a season-high 22 points and Daggett had 19 for the Vikings, who led 19-10 at halftime before breaking it open in the second half. Janie Fagan added six points, while Allie VanAntwerp had four.

With the win, Whitehall improved to 6-9 overall and 4-4 in the West Michigan Conference Lakes Division.

For Orchard View (4-9, 0-6 WMC Lakes), Cambria Hardy and Jurnee Johnson led the way with seven points apiece.

Jeff Sterken is in his second season at Orchard View, which has doubled its win total over last season, when the Cardinals finished 2-21.

Trevor Sterken, Jeff’s son, is in his second season helping coach his dad’s OV team. He was a gutsy guard on Ravenna’s boys basketball team that went 20-0 in the regular season in 2019-20.
