Listen to Michigan high school baseball record holder and his wingman

Whitehall seniors Kyle Stratton and Ryne Christensen featured guests on CatchMark SportsNet Podcast.

Whitehall senior Kyle Stratton slid into the record books last Thursday with his 181st career stolen base.

That moved Stratton past Whitehall great Nate McLouth in the Michigan High School Athletic Association record books. Soon after the achievement, McLouth sent Stratton a congratulatory video. (See the video at the bottom of this story.)

From that achievement and acknowledgement to senior awards and an upcoming graduation ceremony, these are busy times for Stratton and fellow senior Ryne Christensen. But both made the time Sunday to be featured guests on Season 7 Episode 7 of the CatchMark SportsNet Podcast.

CatchMark SportsNet intern Myles Welch grabbed the reins and served as primary host of the podcast, while Scott DeCamp slid into more of a co-hosting role.

Christensen is having a phenomenal baseball season at the plate and on the mound. If you haven’t read it yet, check out DeCamp’s story on how Christensen tried to steal Stratton’s stolen-base thunder.

Stratton is the leadoff batter for Whitehall (20-10), while Christensen hits right behind him in the No. 2 spot. They’re good friends as well as being key players for the Vikings.

The foursome discussed several topics on the podcast. You can watch the pod in its entirety in the video at the top of this story.

In other exciting news, Christensen was named a finalist in the CatchMark SportsNet West Michigan Conference Player of the Year series for 2024 spring sports, while Stratton was named a finalist for the CatchMark SportsNet Senior Athlete of the Year award for 2023-24.
