Local Golf Standouts Recognized in 2024 Girls All-State Awards

All-State Girls Golfers from our Coverage Area

The 2024 Girls All-State Awards honored the top high school golfers in Michigan, and several standout athletes from our coverage area received well-deserved recognition for their performances this season.

Division II

In Division II, Mayson Southland of Mona Shores High School earned a place on the prestigious All-State Team. Southland capped off her season with a strong showing at the Division II state finals, where she took 7th place with rounds of 80 and 82 for a total score of 162 (+18).

Reeths-Puffer’s Sophia McCollum was also recognized with an Honorable Mention on the Division II All-State Team. McCollum’s resilience was evident at the finals meet, where she carded an 81 on day one and an 87 on day two, finishing with a total of 168 (+28).

Division III

Fruitport High School’s Mylee Mineni earned an Honorable Mention on the Division III All-State Team, rounding out a standout season. The senior’s consistent performances made her a crucial player for Fruitport, and at the Division III finals, she delivered a 91 on day one followed by an 87 on day two, finishing with a total of 178 (+34) and placing 28th.

Another notable Division III Honorable Mention went to Whitehall High School’s Grace McDowell, whose 21st-place finish at the finals highlighted her talent and hard work. At Bedford Valley, McDowell shot an 88 on day one and an 86 on day two, for a total of 174 (+30).

Division IV

Representing Montague High School, seniors Braylyn Bultema and junior Cadence Fox each received Honorable Mentions on the Division IV All-State Team.

Bultema, a senior leader for the Wildcats, played a central role in Montague’s successful season and their journey to the state finals. At Forest Akers, she shot a 104 on day one and improved with a 92 on day two, finishing with a 196 (+52) to claim the 23rd spot.

Junior Cadence Fox, another essential player for Montague, also earned All-State recognition with an impressive season. At the finals, Fox opened with a 101 on day one and followed up with a 93 on day two, totaling 195 (+51) and narrowly surpassing her teammate to finish in 22nd place.

Definitely a good showing for the West Michigan and Muskegon Area. With 6 girls all either All-State or All-State Honorable Mention! A great season wrapped up by some impressive achievements!
