It’s been a big week for Ludington’s Karli Mesyar.
On Monday, the Ludington senior libero signed to continue her academic and volleyball pursuits at Kalamazoo Valley Community College. Tuesday night, Mesyar helped the Orioles push Grand Rapids West Catholic to the brink in the Division 2 state quarterfinals.
On Friday, Mesyar finished atop the CatchMark SportsNet West Michigan Conference Player of the Week fan poll.

Mesyar has been a sparkplug for the Orioles all season. In last Tuesday’s dominant sweep of Gladwin in a Division 2 regional semifinal at Big Rapids, Mesyar reached the 1,000-dig milestone for her career. She finished the night with 11 digs, four assists, and one ace. In last Thursday’s hard-fought regional finals win over Kingsford, Mesyar totaled 32 digs, three assists, and two aces. Ludington (42-10-2) captured its first regional title since 1997.
Ludington lost a tough five-setter to West Catholic in Tuesday’s quarterfinals at Fremont. The Orioles won the first (25-23) and fourth (25-18) sets with the Falcons taking sets two (25-18), three (25-16), and the decisive fifth (15-11).
Ludington closed the season with a 42-11-2 overall record and a second straight WMC Lakes Division title in addition to the state tournament trophies the Orioles seized.
