Athletes are listed alphabetically:

NAVEA GAUTHIER, Shelby volleyball

Shelby fell to a tough-serving Traverse City St. Francis team in the Division 3 regional volleyball semifinals last Tuesday at McBain, but Gauthier produced a strong stat line. The 6-foot-2 hitter, who is committed to Ohio State University, finished with 22 kills, 18 digs, and four aces. Shelby closed its season with a 33-14 oveall record.

KARLI MESYAR, Ludington volleyball

The senior libero has been a sparkplug for the Orioles all season. In last Tuesday’s dominant sweep of Gladwin in a Division 2 regional semifinal at Big Rapids, Mesyar reached the 1,000-dig milestone for her career. She finished the night with 11 digs, four assists, and one ace. In Thursday’s hard-fought regional finals win over Kingsford, Mesyar totaled 32 digs, three assists, and two aces. Ludington (42-10-2) captured its first regional title since 1997.

ALEC NEWVILLE, North Muskegon football

The senior is perhaps the smallest player on the field, but he made one of the bigger impacts on the game in North Muskegon’s dramatic 28-27 victory over Pewamo-Westphalia in a Division 7 regional football final Saturday at Oakridge. Newville caught a 23-yard touchdown pass late in the first half. Defensively, he rose to the challenge with a team-high 15 tackles and two pass break-ups. The Norsemen are 12-0 and take on Menominee in the state semifinals this Saturday at Gaylord.

BAYLAH PARKER, Fremont volleyball

The senior libero sparked the Packers to a thrilling five-set win over Spring Lake in a Division 2 regional volleyball semifinal last Tuesday at Central Montcalm. Parker totaled 35 of her team’s 95 digs in the match. In Thursday’s regional finals loss to a talented and tough Grand Rapids West Catholic squad, she notched 12 digs and added an ace.
