Mona Shores’ boys tennis team captured a third-straight Greater Muskegon Athletic Association tournament title Saturday, and the Sailors did it in dominating fashion at Fruitport Middle School and Spring Lake High School.
The Sailors won seven of eight flights, led by No. 1 singles player Drew Hackney.
Mona Shores totaled 46 points to win going away. Whitehall was runner-up with 33 points, followed by North Muskegon in third with 30 points.
It was the second-straight individual GMAA title for Hackney, a sophomore, who defeated Whitehall’s Ashton Trnka in the championship match, 6-1, 6-2. Hackney beat North Muskegon’s Troy McManus in the semifinals, 6-0, 6-2.
Mona Shores’ Kayden Hellmann and Victor Powell won flights at No. 2 singles and No. 4 singles, respectively.
