Montague Boys’ Soccer Secures 1-0 Victory Over Whitehall Vikings

In a tightly contested match, Montague High School’s boys’ soccer team edged out the Whitehall Vikings with a 1-0 victory, thanks to a brilliant goal by Javari Aldridge. The game, held under ideal weather conditions, saw both teams battling fiercely for dominance on the field.

The pivotal moment came at the 27:40 mark in the first half when Aldridge found the back of the net. Breaking past the Vikings’ defense, he received a well-placed pass from Trevor Trevino and delivered a powerful shot past the Whitehall goalkeeper, securing Montague’s lead.

Whitehall, known for its resilient defense, mounted several counterattacks throughout the game. However, Montague’s backline, led by a solid defensive effort, kept the Vikings at bay. Both teams displayed impressive stamina, with Whitehall attempting to equalize in the second half, but Montague’s keeper made crucial saves to preserve the lead.

This victory brings Montague’s conference record to a perfect 5-0, while Whitehall now holds a 2-2 record in the conference. Despite the Vikings’ efforts, they were unable to break through Montague’s defense in this pivotal match.

In addition to the soccer action, there was a special announcement at the game. White Lake Nutrition proudly announced that their Run White Lake 5K raised an impressive $16,000. Rob and Jenna, on behalf of White Lake Nutrition and the Ava VanderStelt Scholarship, presented $8,000 checks to both the Montague and Whitehall Hope Squads, supporting mental health initiatives in both schools.

The evening also included a heartfelt tribute to first responders, honoring their bravery and dedication on the anniversary of September 11. This community-focused event highlighted both the competitive spirit and the unity between the neighboring schools, making it a memorable night both on and off the field.
