Montague vs. Reeths-Puffer baseball games at LMCU Ballpark canceled because of rain

Much-anticipated doubleheader will not be rescheduled for this season with the state tourney around the corner.

EDITOR’S NOTE: The Montague vs. Reeths-Puffer baseball doubleheader scheduled for Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at LMCU Ballpark has been canceled because of rain. The teams will attempt to play at the venue next season, per Montague coach Kevin Buchberger.

All season, Montague’s baseball team had been looking forward to playing at LMCU Ballpark, home of the West Michigan Whitecaps.

The Wildcats were scheduled to do so this Wednesday (May 25) in a 4 p.m. doubleheader against Reeths-Puffer, but the weather did not cooperate.

The Montague vs. Reeths-Puffer baseball matchup at LMCU Ballpark had been selected the CatchMark SportsNet Competition of the Week for May 23-28. The forecast for Comstock Park Wednesday called for a high of 70 degrees and 80 percent chance of precipitation with rain showers in the morning, turning into a more steady rain in the afternoon.

Well, the rains came and forced the cancellation of the event.

The Wildcats and Rockets met earlier this season in a Greater Muskegon Athletic Association Tier 1 tournament pool-play game May 7 at Reeths-Puffer. R-P defeated Montague, 11-1.
