West Michigan Conference track meet picked CSN Competition of Week (May 16-21)

Could be tight race for title on girls side, while Whitehall is big favorite on boys side.

It’s that time of season when the meets mean more in high school track and field.

It’s the meet of the year in the West Michigan Conference Tuesday at Mason County Central, where league championships will be decided on the girls and boys sides.

With all eight schools in the conference competing, the WMC Meet been selected the CatchMark SportsNet Competition of the Week for May 16-21, 2022. It edged out today’s Montague-North Muskegon baseball doubleheader, which will be livestreamed by CatchMark.

The West Michigan Conference track and field meet Tuesday begins with field events at 3 p.m. The 3200 relay takes place at 3:45 p.m. Running finals should start sometime around 5 p.m., if not before.

On the girls side, three teams are serious contenders: Hart, Montague and Whitehall. On the boys side, Whitehall looks to be the overwhelming favorite.

In the CSN Competition of the Week, look for updates on social media as well as a story, photos and video highlights.

Last week’s CSN Competition of the Week was the Montague-Whitehall baseball doubleheader on Tuesday, when the Wildcats swept the host Vikings, 12-1 in five innings and 5-0.

It’s a big week in high school track and field. West Michigan Conference teams will be competing in regionals Friday or Saturday.
