Montague-Whitehall baseball twin bill picked CSN Competition of the Week (May 9-14)

Wildcats and Vikings will play two Tuesday with first pitch set for 4 p.m.

Anytime Montague and Whitehall get together in an athletic event, some type of drama typically ensues.

The storyline for their West Michigan Conference baseball doubleheader Tuesday: Will the Wildcats remain unbeaten in the league or will the Vikings play spoiler?

Whatever happens, CatchMark SportsNet will be there as the twin bill has been selected the CSN Competition of the Week for May 9-14. First pitch for Game 1 is set for 4 p.m.

Montague, which shared the conference title last season with North Muskegon, enters with an 11-7 overall record and 8-0 mark in the WMC. Whitehall, meanwhile, comes in at 9-11 and 4-4, respectively.

Montague has a big doubleheader at home next Monday (May 16) against North Muskegon, which should determined the conference champion.

Whitehall is riding a five-game winning streak after capturing the Greater Muskegon Athletic Association Tier 2 tournament title Saturday. The Vikings defeated Ravenna in the final, 9-1, at Marsh Field and outscored their three opponents on the day a combined 58-5.

Also on Saturday, Montague competed in the GMAA Tier 1 tourney and finished with a 1-1 record. The Wildcats edged Oakridge, 4-3, in the first game before falling to Division 1 Reeths-Puffer, 11-1.
