Montague’s Danny Flanagan wraps up senior golf season in Division 3 state finals

Cale Piedmont-Lang earns medalist honors in leading Ann Arbor Greenhills to state championship.

Montague’s Danny Flanagan completed his senior golf season and Wildcats career by competing in the Division 3 state finals at The Fortress in Frankenmuth this weekend.

Flanagan finished the two-day tournament at 187, shooting 93 Friday and 94 Saturday.

Flanagan qualified individually for the state finals in thrilling fashion, advancing in a three-man playoff during the June 1 regional at Old Channel Trail.

Ann Arbor Greenhills senior Cale Piedmont-Lang captured medalist honors at the Division 3 state finals with a two-day score of 143. He shot 72 on Friday and 71 Saturday. Grand Rapids Catholic Central’s Will Preston was runner-up (74-70–144), while Belding’s Mason Anderson was third (73-72–145).

Greenhills ran away with the Division 3 team state title by shooting 612, 20 strokes better than runner-up Grand Rapids Catholic Central. Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett was third (635), followed by Traverse City St. Francis (643) and Grosse Ile (650).
