North Muskegon overpowers Orchard View behind prolific passing game

MUSKEGON — James Young passed for 232 yards and five touchdowns in leading North Muskegon to a 55-0 victory over host Orchard View in a West Michigan Conference nondivisional football game Thursday night.

Here are notables and more details from the game:

  • Young hit Ben Meyers and T.J. Byard for two TDs apiece. Meyers’ scoring receptions covered 13 and 27 yards, while Byard’s covered 30 and 28.
  • North Muskegon’s August Gerardi carried the ball five times for 39 yards and two TDs.
  • North Muskegon’s Carsen Moat caught a 4-yard TD pass from Young to start the game.
  • Kyle Huff led North Muskegon defensively with 9.5 tackles, including two tackles for loss.
  • North Muskegon’s Jacarri Edwards and Denny Belmonte added 6.5 stops each, while Edwards also snagged an interception.
  • North Muskegon’s Sam Gallo finished with 5.5 tackles, including one stop for lost yardage.
  • North Muskegon outgained Orchard View in total offense, 317-144. The Cardinals outrushed the Norsemen, 144-80.
