North Muskegon rolls past Shelby to cap first 9-0 regular season since 1986

Top-ranked Norsemen go unbeaten in WMC Rivers for a second straight season.

North Muskegon’s M.O. this football season has been to get several players involved.

That was the case again in North Muskegon’s 52-14 victory over visiting Shelby Friday night at Fred Jacks Memorial Field, where the Norsemen secured their first 9-0 regular season since 1986.

Junior quarterback James Young was highly involved for the Norse. He completed 19 of 25 passes for 296 yards and five touchdowns. Bryce Colbert got into the act as well, completing his lone pass for a TD.

The win secured North Muskegon a second straight outright West Michigan Conference Rivers Division title at 6-0 after another unbeaten run through the division.

Next up for the top-ranked Norsemen is the Division 7 playoffs. For Shelby, the season ends at 2-7 overall and 2-4 in the WMC Rivers.
