Oakridge falls to talented Covenant Christian squad in nonleague boys basketball

Oakridge’s boys basketball team fell to a tough Grand Rapids Covenant Christian squad in a nonleague matchup Tuesday at Oakridge, 69-47.

The visiting Chargers used a big second quarter, outscoring the Eagles 23-10 in the frame, to extend their margin.

Oakridge’s Ethan Jozsa led all scorers with 22 points to go along with seven rebounds and three steals. Hunter DeLora had 12 points for the Eagles (5-7 overall), while Garrett Wever added seven points and nine rebounds. Peyton Ruel and Matt Danicek contributed six and four assists, respectively.

Zach Gritters led Covenant Christian (9-2) with 17 points. Micah Koole scored 15 points for the Chargers, while Evan Engelsma had 11.

Oakridge is off until next Tuesday, when it hosts Montague in a 7 p.m. West Michigan Conference contest.
