Oakridge’s Matt Danicek shines on stage at Muskegon-area hall of fame banquet

CatchMark’s Scott DeCamp introduced Ravenna’s Frank Coletta as Gene Young Distinguished Service Award winner.

MUSKEGON — Saturday night’s Muskegon Area Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony and banquet had some West Michigan Conference flavor.

Longtime Ravenna resident Frank Coletta received the Gene Young Distinguished Service Award, introduced by CatchMark SportsNet’s Scott DeCamp.

It was Oakridge’s Matt Danicek, however, who stole the stage. The newly minted Oakridge alumnus was presented the MASHF’s Scholar-Athlete Award, which goes to the Muskegon area’s top senior student-athletes on the male and female sides.

Danicek actually shared the stage with the ceremony’s emcee, Dan Beckeman, who is the MASHF president.

Beckeman opened his Danicek introduction playfully, remarking about their good looks.

At the top of this story, watch a video from Danicek’s and Beckeman’s time together on the stage.

Below, check out dozens of photos of Danicek, Beckeman, Coletta and DeCamp.
