MUSKEGON — Several Muskegon-area high school senior baseball standouts and many more fans converged upon historic Marsh Field on a cool Monday night for a laid-back showcase of that talent.

The West Michigan Conference was well-represented in the Greater Muskegon Area High School All-Star Classic, won 7-5 by the Blue team over the Red team.

Whitehall’s Taryn Hardy closed the door with a 1-2-3 seventh inning to earn the save and put the finishing touches on the win for the Blue squad, coached by Ludington’s Evan Kroeze.

Other Blue team members from the West Michigan Conference included Montague’s Nick Moss and Chase Gowell; North Muskegon’s Troy McManus and Carsen Moat, and Oakridge’s Matt Danicek.

Red team members from the West Michigan Conference included Ludington’s Jonny Weinert and Nathan Dillehay; North Muskegon’s Denny Belmonte, John Caliendo and Sam Gallo; Montague’s Kade Johnson; Mason County Central’s Will Chye; Ravenna’s Hunter Hogan, and Fremont’s Gabe VanVleet, Carl Vliem and Brenden Maka. Montague’s Owen Petersen was listed on the Blue team roster, but he was not present Monday.

Montague’s Rick Blankstrom and Kevin Buchberger were umpires for the game. Fruitport’s Nick Reed coached the Red team.
