Photos, video from Ludington’s basketball win at Orchard View that clinched Lakes title share

Orioles finish 11-1 in the WMC Lakes Division and they’re 19-2 overall.

MUSKEGON — Ludington’s boys basketball team took care of business Tuesday night at Orchard View, defeating the Cardinals 69-31 to clinch a share of the West Michigan Conference Lakes Division title.

Ludington (19-2 overall, 11-1 WMC Lakes) used a 28-4 second-quarter scoring blitz to take control against the Cardinals (2-18, 1-9). Senior Chase Hackert hit a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to give the Orioles a 42-14 halftime lead.

Ludington junior David Shillinger, who recently eclipsed the 1,000-point plateau in his career, led all scorers with 21 points.

Junior Spencer Holmes scored 12 points for the Orioles, while 6-foot-10 senior Matthew Westhouse added 10.

Orchard View juniors Cari Flowers and Delaney Oakes finished with 10 and nine points, respectively, to pace their team.

Whitehall (16-5, 10-1) will host Orchard View Thursday night with a shot to earn a share of the WMC Lakes championship.
