NORTON SHORES — North Muskegon’s girls soccer team defeated Western Michigan Christian 2-0 twice on the Warriors’ home field this season.

The first time, the Norse did it in blizzard-like conditions in the season opener March 24. On Friday, they did it under sunshine and comfortable conditions with a district championship on the line.

Above are several images from the reigning Division 4 state champion Norse’s victory. Here are the details with video highlights and reaction below:

Goals:

Jaley Schultz (Sam Johnson assist), 34:08 left in first half

Sam Johnson (Natalie Pannucci assist), 22:39 left in second half

Shots on goal:

North Muskegon 23, Western Michigan Christian 4

Saves:

Libby Mast (Western Michigan Christian), 21

Emma Lamiman (North Muskegon), 4

Records:

North Muskegon 14-3-1

Western Michigan Christian 9-7-5

Next game for North Muskegon:

The Norse advance to Tuesday’s 7 p.m. regional semifinal at Cadillac, where they will face the winner of Saturday’s district final between Grand Rapids NorthPointe Christian and Grandville Calvin Christian.

Notable:

North Muskegon has shut out four straight opponents and seven of the last eight with the lone goal in that stretch coming in a 1-1 tie with Royal Oak Shrine, which the Norse beat in last year’s state finals. The Norse have a dozen shutouts in 18 matches this season.
