FREMONT — First place in the West Michigan Conference Lakes Division was on the line when Ludington and Fremont met in a well-played volleyball match Tuesday night in the Packers’ gym.

Fremont won the first set before Ludington recovered to take the next three. The Orioles defeated the Packers, 17-25, 25-18, 25-23, 25-21.

With the win, Ludington improved to 31-6-2 overall and 5-0 in the WMC Lakes, clinching at least a share of the regular-season title. The loss left Fremont 27-12 and 4-1, respectively.

Ludington will wrap up WMC Lakes regular-season play next Tuesday at home vs. Whitehall. That same night, Fremont hosts Oakridge in a WMC Lakes finale.
