From TikToks to a fog machine, players were showcased in event hosted by CatchMark SportsNet and MLive and sponsored by VanDyk Mortgage.

WHITEHALL — Practice for the 2022 Michigan high school football season kicked off today (Monday, Aug. 8). The season officially gets underway for varsity football teams on Thursday, Aug. 25.

Last Tuesday, however, more than a dozen varsity football squads from the expanding West Michigan Conference were thrust into the spotlight during a Media Day event at the Viking Athletic Center.

From TikToks featuring touchdown celebrations to a fog machine in a makeshift video studio, coaches and players representing 13 schools cut loose before things got serious with the official start of practice today.

CatchMark SportsNet and MLive collaborated for the West Michigan Conference Media Day, which was sponsored by VanDyk Mortgage.

Don’t miss the highlight video at the top of this story by CatchMark’s Billy Mann, who had plenty of fun shooting video and hype clips of all the teams in the makeshift studio at the VAC.

CatchMark’s Tate Stine caught up with some teams and created entertaining TikToks. Check those out by clicking HERE.

Don’t miss the team photos and dozens of individual portraits from Media Day in the galleries below.

Thanks to Whitehall District Schools for use of the impressive VAC facility for Media Day.
