High school basketball season does not officially begin until late-November. For Luke Houseman, it’s always basketball season.
Houseman is always looking for ways to promote and raise funds for his Ravenna girls basketball program, and the Bulldogs’ varsity head coach appears to have found a great way to do it.
Houseman organized the first annual Ravenna 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament. Based upon the 56 teams that competed in the event Saturday, Aug. 5, at Ravenna High School and Ravenna Middle School, his idea can be deemed a success.

“It was a great success,” Houseman said. “I couldn’t have done this without my wife, Amanda Houseman, our volunteers, sponsors, teams, the community, and parents.
“It was great to see kids from all over West Michigan playing basketball in our little town. We look forward to doing it again next year.”
