See West Michigan Conference basketball schedules, Game of the Week (Dec. 13-17)

Last full week of games before the holiday break, highlighted by a crosstown girls basketball rivalry

Girls basketball teams in the WMC are preparing for their third week of the season. The boys teams tipped off league play last Friday and will tackle their second week of the season this week. After this round of play, most teams will part until after the holidays.

The past week proved to be interesting on both girls and boys fronts as some conference teams began to surface as forces to be reckoned with.

Here are schedules this week (Dec. 13-17, 2021) for girls and boys teams in the conference, followed by announcement of our Game of the Week:

CATCHMARK SPORTSNET GAME OF THE WEEK

Whitehall at Montague girls, 7 p.m. Tuesday: The West Michigan Conference girls basketball slate seems entirely open ended as four teams stand at 2-0 including Hart, Montague, Shelby, and Whitehall. This week, the seasoned rivalry between Whitehall and Montague proves to be the most intriguing matchup.

Last season, Montague claimed victory over Whitehall three times including a close first matchup score of 39-37. The final win against the rival Vikings sealed a District championship for the Wildcats under former coach Cody Kater.

Seniors Claire and Madelyn Meacham, along with sophomore Kendall Osborne look to be impact players for the Wildcats. Seniors Charley Klint and McKena Coron alongside junior Marissa Strandberg are expected to lead the Vikings.

CatchMark will provide live audio of the game on our website, plus we’ll be producing the live video stream as per usual.
