Mona Shores (8-1) has had quite the campaign with its only loss coming to a powerhouse from down south, Toledo Catholic Central. The Sailors have drawn Traverse City West in the District Semifinal. Above is how the Division Two Region One District One draw took place.
Going down the list we have Whitehall (6-3). The Vikings have won the Lakes side of the WMC conference the past three seasons and have an undefeated record in the conference at 18-0 in that span. A season ago Whitehall finished (9-0) in the regular season but unfortunately lost in the District Final to Big Rapids. The Vikings match up with Forest Hills Eastern in the District Semi-Final.
Ludington joins Whitehall in this District bracket. The Orioles finished the regular season (7-2) and 2nd in the WMC. Ludington will play Big Rapids in the District Semifinal.
Oakridge at (4-5) travel to play a division five powerhouse from Grand Rapids, West Catholic. The Eagles narrowly edged themselves into the field of 32 with a big win against Ravenna down the stretch. Last season these two teams met in the district final with West Catholic taking the cake 45-0. Above is how the rest of the district will play out.
In District Two of Region One, two WMC teams have made the playoffs—Manistee from the Lakes division and Mason County Central from the Rivers division. In the event both schools win their first-round matchup, we will have a WMC district final. The Mariners and the Spartans played each other a week ago with MCC taking it 36-22.
Montague, like Manistee, just barely squeaked into the playoffs. The Wildcats took on Ravenna a week ago which secured its spot in November. Friday, Montague will travel East to take on Newaygo who is having a solid season at (7-2).
Finally, in division seven we see North Muskegon has punched its ticket to the playoffs and will face Evart in the District Semifinals. The Norse had a memorable run in the 2023 season where they went to the Regional Semifinal. The above shows the rest of the district including Evart, Mcbain, and Harrison.
Keep an eye out this week for which games we will have covered. Good Luck to all teams on their path to a state championship.
