First of many.

Muskegon, MI – In a move that solidifies their defensive core, the Muskegon Voyagers have announced the re-signing of standout defenseman Riley Pitchure to a one-year contract. The 22-year-old Pitchure, who will celebrate his 23rd birthday later this month, is coming off a career-best season that saw him emerge as a leader and offensive catalyst for the Voyagers.

Last season, Pitchure’s performance was nothing short of exceptional. He shattered his previous career highs, racking up an impressive 13 goals and 23 assists for a total of 36 points – a testament to his offensive prowess. He also proved to be a clutch player, leading the team in game-tying goals (3) and sharing the top spot in shorthanded goals (2). Pitchure’s impact extended into the playoffs, where he continued his stellar play, contributing 8 points in 5 games and securing the third spot in team scoring.

His contributions didn’t go unnoticed. Pitchure was recognized as the Voyagers’ Best Defenseman and Most Improved Player, a testament to his dedication and growth throughout the season.

Pitchure’s re-signing marks the first move in what is expected to be a busy offseason for the Voyagers. The team is keen on building upon last season’s success, and having Pitchure back in the fold is a significant step in that direction. With his blend of skill, leadership, and determination, Pitchure is poised to play a pivotal role in the Voyagers’ quest for another MIHL title.

As the Voyagers gear up for the 2024-25 season, fans can expect more announcements in the coming weeks as the team continues to shape its roster. With Pitchure anchoring the defense, the future looks bright for the Muskegon Voyagers.
