WHITEHALL — Tony Sigmon has had several influences along his path as a high school football coach.
The road started during his playing days at DeWitt High School and continued at Alma College. His coaching career launched in Florida before the road led to Whitehall, where last fall he completed his 10th season as Vikings head coach.
On Monday (May 1, 2023), Sigmon made a pit stop to the CatchMark Podcast studio as guest on Season 4 Episode 6 of the CatchMark Sports Podcast. He joined co-hosts Scott DeCamp, Ken Byard and Tate Stine. They discussed several topics, mostly football-related but more than that.

Last fall, Sigmon guided Whitehall to a dominant 11-1 season including West Michigan Conference Lakes Division and Division 4 district titles. The Vikings lost a 28-21 regional finals heartbreaker to eventual state champion Grand Rapids South Christian. Early in the season, Sigmon was named the Detroit Lions High School Coach of the Week in the state of Michigan.
