Norse junior QB James Young and assistant coach Ken Byard join host Scott DeCamp and co-host Myles Welch.

WHITEHALL — North Muskegon’s football team continues to make history in this special 2023 season.

The Division 7 top-ranked Norsemen captured their first district title since 2006 in Saturday’s impressive 27-24 victory over fourth-ranked Lawton at Oakridge’s Russell A. Erickson Stadium.

Next up for North Muskegon — 11-0 for the first time since 1986 — is the regional finals against Pewamo-Westphalia (10-1) at 1 p.m. this Saturday. At this time, the game is scheduled to be played at North Muskegon’s Fred Jacks Memorial Field, but athletic director Jeff Cooke said a location change is possible. The Norsemen handed the Pirates their lone loss, 17-14, back in the season opener at Fred Jacks Field.

Amid these exciting times for the Norse, junior quarterback James Young and assistant coach Ken Byard visited CatchMark Monday night (Nov. 6) as guests on Season 5 Episode 9 of the CatchMark SportsNet Podcast.

Scott DeCamp hosted the podcast along with CatchMark SportsNut Myles Welch, a Whitehall High School junior who is an aspiring sports broadcaster and analyst.

The foursome spoke about a number of topics in what was a fun and lively show. Watch a replay of the podcast the top of this story.
