HART 60, HESPERIA 57: Visiting Hart slipped past Hesperia in a very competitive WMC Rivers Division contest.
“Early on it looked like Hart would run away with the victory as the boys jumped out to an 11-0 lead. Credit to the Panthers who stayed together and went a 5-0 run to cut into the first-quarter lead,” Hart coach Nick Bronsema said.
“In the second quarter, Hart expanded their lead to double digits, and then Hesperia again went on a run of their own to actually claim the lead by one 28-27. A big moment occurred in the fourth quarter when the game was tied, junior Ty Schlukebir hit an NBA range 3-pointer to give the Pirates the lead that they would not relinquish.”
NEWAYGO 63, RAVENNA 57: Host Ravenna jumped out to a 20-12 first-quarter lead, but could not hold on as Newaygo rallied for the nonleague win.
“The Dogs are coming to a crossroads in the season: Do they want to settle for mediocre or strive to get the most possible from this season?” Ravenna coach Courtney Kemp said. “Ravenna played too reserved in a game they had ample opportunities to run away from the Newaygo Lions.
“Credit to Newaygo for being relentless. One thing is for certain: Ravenna will continue to work to answer these questions that have plagued them all season.”
