Several West Michigan Conference boys basketball teams were in action Friday night.
Below is a roundup from games reported to CatchMark SportsNet:
WMC LAKES DIVISION
WHITEHALL 74, ORCHARD VIEW 23: Host Whitehall stayed unbeaten at 12-0 with a lopsided victory over Orchard View, setting the stage for a nonleague battle of undefeated teams Tuesday when the Vikings travel north to face Cadillac (11-0).
MONTAGUE 56, OAKRIDGE 51: Host Montague avenged an earlier loss to Oakridge behind Isaiah Atchison’s strong game. The Wildcats built a lead in the first three quarters, holding a 45-31 advantage entering the final frame.
FREMONT 62, MANISTEE 35: Visiting Fremont rebounded nicely from Tuesday’s lopsided loss to unbeaten Whitehall, holding Manistee to 13 first-half points.
“The boys played with great effort, and we did a lot of positive things as a team. Our defense was very good, holding Manistee to only 13 first half points,” Fremont coach Adam Bowen said. “I thought we did some good things on offense as well. We got out in transition and did a better job of moving and sharing the ball in the half-court.
“Chaz Miller had his best game of the season.”
Fremont leaders:
Will DeBlake 17 points, 5 rebounds
Chaz Miller 16 points, 9 assists, 6 rebounds, 5 steals
Travis McDonald 7 points, 4 rebounds

WMC RIVERS DIVISION
NORTH MUSKEGON 60, RAVENNA 51: Adam Dugener led a balanced North Muskegon attack with a co-game-high 19 points as the Norsemen took on a challenge from host Ravenna and remained unbeaten.
HESPERIA 53, MASON COUNTY CENTRAL 52: The series of close games continued for host Hesperia, and this time the Panthers won a thriller when Bryce Billings hit the deciding free throw in the closing seconds.
“The score was tight throughout and it was ultimately decided when Bryce Billings made a clutch free throw with 4 seconds to play to seal the victory,” Hesperia coach Scott Warsaw said.
“Hard fought game the whole way. We made some big mistakes at unfortunate times,” MCC coach Chris VanderHaag said. “I have to give the Panthers credit — they came to play. Billings and (Nicholas) Guarnieri are solid players. We had a huge turnover with 4 seconds on the clock. We called a timeout with none to give, which put the Panthers on the line at a 52-52 score. They made one of two to seal the win.”
HART 76, HOLTON 28: Visiting Hart outscored Holton 16-6 in the first quarter and 42-15 in the first half en route to the runaway victory.
“It was a game where the breaks seemed to go the Hart Pirate way,” Hart coach Nick Bronsema said. “The host Holton Red Devils played hard, even seemingly breaking the Hart full-court press with poise. (Holton) senior point guard and do-everything guard Carter Brant received his third foul in the second quarter. This is when The Pirates went on a run and never looked back.”
