Passionately, Shelby Tigers football is entering another chapter under seasoned head coach Phil Fortier. After another rough season last year, the Tigers are ready to prove they’re a force to be reckoned in the West Michigan Conference. Fortier brings decades of coaching experience and a proven track record of success, aiming to revitalize the program and build a winning culture in Shelby. He is determined to reignite the passion for football at Shelby High School.
While the Tigers’ future is undeniably bright, with a wealth of budding talent emerging from their JV program, they may face some challenges this season due to their youth. A portion of their key players are underclassmen, which could lead to some growing pains as they adjust to the varsity level. However, the arrival of quarterback Isaac Garcia is a major boost for the team. His skillset perfectly complements the Tigers’ run-heavy offense, and he has the potential to be a game-changer. On the defensive side of the ball, the towering presence of David Purdy at defensive tackle will be crucial.
