WMC girls basketball: MCC downs Ravenna; Montague breezes by Manistee

West Michigan Conference basketball kicked off this week Monday with two girls basketball competitions.

Mason County Central made the long trip south to take on conference foe Ravenna, and Montague hosted Manistee in a nonleague matchup.

MASON COUNTY CENTRAL 43, RAVENNA 33: At Ravenna, the host Bulldogs entered into a first half fight with the visiting Spartans. After a even score of 17 at the break, the Spartans came out firing. They increased the deficit to 5 points and held on for a league victory.

Grace Weinert 9 points, 4 assists, 3 steals

Adria Quigley 7 points, 3 assists

Ravenna leaders:

Maddie Kilbourne 16 points, 2 steals

MONTAGUE 51, MANISTEE 29: At Montague, the host Wildcats posted a huge 19-point second quarter to increase the deficit to 12 points at the break. Down the stretch, the ‘Cats held the Chippewas to 6 points in the fourth quarter leading them to a nonleague victory.
