It had been a tough week for Oakridge’s girls basketball team, and Friday’s game at Ravenna didn’t start well at all.

It sure ended well, however.

Oakridge was shut out in the opening quarter, but the Eagles picked it up after that to rally for a 33-22 victory over the Bulldogs in West Michigan Conference action. The game was a make-up from a contest originally scheduled for Dec. 17.

Ravenna (4-10 overall, 2-7 WMC) held a 7-0 lead after one quarter, but Oakridge (4-11, 3-7) woke up in the second and pulled within 14-11 by halftime.

The Eagles outscored the Bulldogs 8-1 in the third quarter alone and 22-8 in the second half to pull away.

Anna Lundquist posted game highs of 17 points and 14 points to lead Oakridge, which lost at Grand Rapids Covenant Christian (43-36) on Tuesday and at home against Mason County Central (47-35) on Thursday. Lundquist also had three blocks and one steal.

Destyni Lane added four points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals for the Eagles.

Emma Gillard led Ravenna with 15 points, eight rebounds and two steals. Olivia Porter had 10 rebounds for the Bulldogs.

The teams will turn around and play again Tuesday at Oakridge.
