WMC roundup for 2023 boys soccer districts: Ludington, North Muskegon advance to finals

Orioles and Norsemen will play for district titles in respective divisions on Thursday night.

Three West Michigan Conference boys soccer teams competed in 2023 district semifinal matches on Tuesday (Oct. 17) and two of them advanced to the district finals.

Here’s a roundup of the action:

DIVISION 2 AT BIG RAPIDS

LUDINGTON 1, MIDLAND 0: Parker Wendt came through again, as his goal was the lone tally in Ludington’s victory over Midland in the district semifinals. The Orioles outshot the Chemics, 13-3, as Gabe Gamez made three saves for the winners.

Ludington (16-5) takes on Cedar Springs (14-5-1), a 4-0 winner over Bay City John Glenn, in Thursday’s 7 p.m. district finals.

DIVISION 4 AT WESTERN MICHIGAN CHRISTIAN

NORTH MUSKEGON 5, PENTWATER 0: North Muskegon (9-9-4) shut out Pentwater to earn a berth in Thursday’s 6:45 p.m. district finals against top-ranked Western Michigan Christian.

Pentwater finishes its season with a 7-4-1 record.

WESTERN MICHIGAN CHRISTIAN 6, RAVENNA 0: Host and No. 1-ranked Western Michigan Christian (16-2-3) blanked Ravenna to set up a district finals match against North Muskegon at 6:45 p.m. Thursday.
