Emalee McGee, Montague Volleyball

Montague senior setter Emalee McGee is making her mark early and has earned her place as a Player of the Week nominee. She’s currently 2nd in the WMC in assists, piling up 100 in just 21 sets — a crisp 4.8 per set. But she’s not just running the offense — Emalee is proving dangerous at the net too, hitting at a 49.1% kill rate with a 38.6% hitting percentage, good for 28 kills on 57 swings.

Issac Garcia, Shelby Football

Shelby senior QB Issac Garcia is putting folks on notice — both as a Player of the Week nominee and as the heartbeat of a Tigers squad that refuses to be overlooked. In just two games, Garcia has racked up 225 passing yards, including a breakout night against North Muskegon where he went 11 completions for 172 yards. He’s slinging it with precision, completing 63.6% of his passes on 22 attempts, and giving Shelby exactly what it needs: a steady, reliable leader under center. Early returns say the Tigers have the firepower to be very dangerous this fall.

Jorge Burgos-Yack, Fruitport Soccer

Burgos-Yack was the needle that stitched it all together for Fruitport in their thriller over state-ranked Allendale. The Trojan standout led the charge in scoring, then coolly buried the game-winning PK to seal the deal. A Player of the Year nominee last season, Jorge looks like he’s well on his way to another serious run at that crown in 2025.
