Local Hoops: 2025-26 Players Join the 1,000-Point Club

As the 2025-26 high school basketball season unfolded across West Michigan, several standout athletes hit a rare and exciting milestone — 1,000 career points. Here’s a look at the players who’ve joined the exclusive scoring club this winter, where they play, and when they hit the mark:

Adam Dugener — North Muskegon Norsemen

Milestone: Reached 1,000 career points
When: December 5, 2025 — season opener vs. Holton

North Muskegon senior guard Adam Dugener kicked off the 2025-26 season in dominant fashion. In the Norsemen’s season-opening 77–11 victory over Holton, Dugener scored 19 points — enough to push his career scoring total past 1,000 points after narrowly missing the mark the previous season. The effort highlighted his consistent scoring ability and offensive leadership for North Muskegon.

A multifaceted guard with collegiate potential (he’s committed to Alma College), Dugener also contributes across the stat sheet and consistently boosts his team as a playmaker and scorer.

Dylan May — Ravenna Bulldogs

Milestone: Reached 1,000 career points
When: January 22, 2026 — vs. Holton

Ravenna’s senior standout Dylan May etched his name into school history as the second-ever 1,000-point scorer in program history. He hit the milestone in a 63–28 rout over Holton, putting up 18 points that night to pass the mark and join Ravenna legend Mark Jacobs on the school’s all-time scoring list.

May’s scoring prowess was again on display throughout the season, showcasing his leadership and impact on both ends of the floor as the Bulldogs continue their campaign.

Cole VanderHaag — Mason County Central Spartans

Milestone: Reached 1,000 career points
When: February 2, 2026 — vs. North Muskegon

For Mason County Central, senior Cole VanderHaag became a member of a rare club himself, hitting 1,000 career points in early February. He scored his milestone bucket on a three-pointer late in the third quarter of a tough loss to North Muskegon, finishing with 21 points in the game. VanderHaag’s scoring consistency throughout his varsity career earned him the distinction of being the 10th Spartan boy to score 1,000 points.

Mariah Sain — Muskegon Big Reds

Milestone: Reached 1,000 career points
When: Winter 2025-26 season — vs. Hudsonville High School

On the girls side, Muskegon High School senior Mariah Sain reached a major milestone this season, scoring her 1,000th career point during a winter matchup and cementing her place among the region’s top scorers. She hit the mark in a 52–37 road win against Hudsonville High School, where she led the Lady Reds with 26 points. A season preview also notes that Sain is a four-year varsity starter who posted double-figure scoring averages in each of her first three seasons, making her milestone another standout moment in an already impressive career.

DayDay Williams — Fruitport

Milestone reached: 1,000+ career points — Feb. 7, 2026 vs. Comstock Park

Fruitport senior guard DayDay Williams reached the 1,000-point career milestone during the Trojans’ 89–52 win over Comstock Park, becoming only the third player in Fruitport boys basketball history to hit 1,000 points. Williams finished with 22 points in the milestone game, and Fruitport coach Steve Erny noted the night was special as the team celebrated Williams joining the 1,000-point club. In terms of varsity experience, MuskegonSports.com reports that Williams came up to varsity as a freshman (2022–23), meaning the 2025–26 season is his fourth varsity season.
