Conference Showdown: Fremont Holds Off Hart in Statement Win

In one of the most impactful matchups of the week, Fremont edged Hart 4-2 in a game with major West Michigan Conference implications.

The contest delivered early excitement, with momentum swinging back and forth throughout the first half. Fremont struck first, but Hart quickly responded with two goals to take the lead. The Packers answered again to even things at 2-2 before regaining control with another goal to make it 3-2 heading toward halftime.

Fremont’s offense was powered by a standout performance from Esther Vissia, who scored three goals, leading the charge for the Packers. Maddie Mater also played a key role, contributing a goal and an assist in the win.

Despite Hart pushing to find an equalizer in the second half, Fremont added an insurance goal to seal the 4-2 victory.

Addie Barefoot and Natalie Rosema found the back of the net for Hart, with assists from Rilynn Porter and Olivia Bradley, while goalkeeper Baleigh Klotz recorded seven saves in the effort.

The win keeps Fremont unbeaten in conference play and strengthens their position at the top of the standings, while Hart remains firmly in the hunt.

Montague Outlasts Oakridge in Thriller

Montague outlasted Oakridge 4-3 in a back-and-forth battle that saw momentum swing throughout, with the Wildcats matching Oakridge goal for goal and showing resilience all night.

Oakridge struck first on a Bella Whalen goal off a Sienna Eacker cross, but Montague answered quickly. The teams traded goals all half, including a penalty kick from Olivia Rivenbark, heading into halftime tied 2-2.

The second half followed the same script, Montague took the lead, Eacker answered with a free kick to make it 3-3, before Montague broke through late on a breakaway for the winner.

Lilly Rice led Montague with three goals, delivering in key moments, while Marguerite O’Connell added another. The Wildcats recorded multiple equalizers and never let the game get away, showing strong teamwork and composure throughout.

Oakridge stayed within reach the entire game behind Alayna “The Wall” Weiss, who recorded 27 saves.
